In response to your request, we're gladly relating our experience of building a home remotely. While living in Atlanta, we sought a builder and settled on Excell after making inquiries with nine possibilities and interviewing a final three. Since those finalist had similar estimated prices, gut instinct alone guided us. Making Curt Lollis our final choice was one of the luckiest decisions we've ever made.
From the onset, Curt presented himself as a good listener who offered knowledgeable suggestions when appropriate. His experience as a framer came into play repeatedly for us as he solved problems existing in our plan renderings. Whenever we were able to visit the site, Curt made the best use of our time by lining subs up for necessary decision making with electrical, central vac, cabinetry and the like. A rough timeline of construction and list of suppliers was extremely helpful, as well.
We felt that Curt's prices were fair, even when material values fluctuated. From time to time during construction, we would notice discrepancies in our expectations and what we saw being done. Curt either explained his actions or made modifications to settle an issue. Most of the subcontractors were extremely competent and, without exception, exhibited pride in their crafts.
The unavoidable snafus that surfaced after we moved in have been dealt with in a timely and professional matter. I was advised by many to withhold funds at closing to assure punchlist items would be handled, but we did not. It has not been a problem at all, as Curt continues to be responsive seven months after we moved into the home.
Having known people who built homes nearby in anguish and misery, we were slightly fearful. But, the lines of communication were used frequently and well by Curt, making our house-building rewarding and as painless as it could be.

My wife and I recently purchased a home built by Curt Lollis in the Courtyards. We contracted to build the inverness Model for an agreed upon price. Although we live five hours from Anderson and would only be able to check personally on the construction process intermittently, we had heard good things about his work and decided to proceed.
Throughout the process my son, daughter-in-law and friends who live on the 16th hole at Brookstone Meadows checked on the construction progress and made reports to us. Throughout the construction, they commented on how well the construction was coming and the fact that Curt did not appear to be cutting any corners either in materials or construction technique. If there were actions he would lay them out for us with reasonable pricing and we could accept or decline the proposed changes in design or add-ons.
Also, Wanda (interior decorator) was very helpful and knowledgeable in picking flooring, colors, appliances, fixtures, etc. and the coordination turned out very nicely. The landscaping suits the property perfectly.
When we did the walk-though (actually several walk-throughs over three days) prior to the closing, we were amazed how little needed to be "touched-up". Curt has promised that the few items on his list will be completed soon and I have no doubt that they will.
Overall my wife and I have been very pleased with the home that Curt and his team of builders built and are sure we have purchased a home that will not only be very comfortable to live in but will also prove to be a sound investment as well. Just a few words to let you know how comfortable Pat and I have felt during the building process of our new home in Brookstone Meadows.
We had bids from three different builders and are very happy with the choice that we have made in selecting your company.
Being out of town for most of the time, it was great to have both yourself and Wanda assisting in the selection process of our upgrades. Your input and advice was terrific.

I wanted to take this opportunity to again thank you for the wonderful job that you did on my parent's new home in Brookstone Meadows. As I mentioned on the phone, it has been a pleasure to watch your process with them, and in particular, your diligence with the details, schedule and budget that was established early in the process.
